Microneedling Specialist
What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that stimulates the production of collagen, which is a structural protein that gives your skin its youthful and supple appearance. Dr. John uses a specially-designed tool called the Dermapen® to rejuvenate the skin and reduce signs of aging.
In addition to wrinkles, microneedling also treats acne scars and stretch marks.
How does microneedling diminish lines and wrinkles?
Microneedling rejuvenates your skin by stimulating the growth of new skin cells. As you get older, collagen production decreases, leading to skin that’s less resilient and pliable, which leads to the formation of lines and wrinkles.
The tiny needles in the Dermapen slightly injure the top layer of your skin, causing it to increase its production of collagen to promote healing. In turn, you get new, younger-looking skin filled with highly-resilient and supportive collagen.
For best results, you may need three to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. It may take up to six months before you notice the changes, but the results last up to a year.
What other treatments are offered for skin rejuvenation?
In addition to microneedling, Dr. John also offers other cosmetic procedures to improve your appearance, including intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency.
IPL treatment
IPL rejuvenates your skin with advanced light technology that targets the pigmented skin of age spots and sun damage. It’s also used to treat broken blood vessels and rosacea.
The device uses multiple wavelengths of light that reach the deep layers of your skin to constrict blood vessels and reduce pigmentation. As the pulses of light zap your skin, you may feel a little sting, but it’s short-lived. If needed, Dr. John applies a topical anesthetic to ease any discomfort.
For best results, you may need three to six treatments at four week intervals, and then yearly treatments to maintain the effects.
Radiofrequency treatment
Dr. John uses radiofrequency to tighten the skin and give it a younger appearance. This type of cosmetic procedure works by gently heating the skin to stimulate production of collagen in the deep layers of your dermis and underlying tissue, contracting the connective tissue to tighten the area.
If you’re ready to fight against the hands of time, Dr. John is here to help. If you live in Meridian or the surrounding areas, call the office or book a consultation online.
